U.S. Navel Sea Cadet Corps Battleship South Dakota Division
Founded September 17, 2025
Daron Ross, director
The mission of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps is to build leaders of character by imbuing in the cadets the highest ideals of honor, respect, commitment, and service through leadership and hands on skills training.
Based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the Battleship South Dakota Division proudly carries the name of the USS South Dakota (BB-57), one of the most decorated battleships of World War II with 13 battle stars earned in the Pacific. Sponsored by the South Dakota Council of the Navy League and supported by the Navy Reserve Center Sioux Falls, their unit provides young men and women with opportunities to develop leadership, seamanship, and character through hands-on training and community service. By honoring the legacy of their namesake, they prepare cadets to become the next generation of leaders in both military and civilian life.
